Vizio GV47LFHDTV10A

From: Aaron
Model #: Vizio GV47LFHDTV10A

On the weekend, while watching my TV, I heard a pop and the screen went black. There was still a backlight, but no picture. I was unable to turn the TV off with the remote or the touch power buttons, so I unplugged the TV. On plugging it back in the front light showed amber, as indicated, and the touch panel controls activated. When I turned the TV on the front light went to white, as indicated, and the touch controls remained lit, contra indicated. There was also no longer even a back light. I could then not turn off the TV either via remote or touch panel controls. Through the entire ordeal there was no longer any sound.

Some research has led me to believe there may be a blown fuse on the main board. There are some DIY fixes, but my soldering is less than excellent.

2 questions then: Are parts still available for this TV (3 years old), do you know what the price might be?

Thanks!

  • Aaron, It sounds to me like microprocessor errors on the main pcb. If the microprocessor in a TV is working correctly then it will always respond to the power button being pressed. The only time it won’t under normal conditions is when another button on the front panel is already being pressed. The main board also controls the sound, front led color and triggers the backlight. From my experience the main board would neeed to be replaced which is not in stock but still available if you brought it to us.

  • I have VIZIO TV GV47LFHDTV10A, I try to connect BOSE system, but the TV audio out no signal sending out neither optical nor analog. Please help telling me what happen.

    Thanks.

    • That depends on the source. Most TV’s will not convert signals. For example, if you have a cablebox going into the HDMI input on the TV, the TV will not convert the audio signal from digital and output analog audio. The same goes for the optical audio output, it will not convert from an analog input. If you’ve verified the source is good and you are not converting signals then you would have a defective main board.
