My lg 47lg50 LCD tv is having screen issues. When you turn it on it will run for about a half hour just fine, but then the image goes off but the audio and backlight stay on and the tv doesn’t shut off.
I tried taking the back cover off and putting 2 fans behind it and it ran for 2+ hours before I had to shut it off. Then I tried the same thing accept with no fans an it ran for about 1:30 before I shut it off. It seems pretty definite that it’s heat related, but any ideas what is over heating? Would it be worth just putting CPU fans on the back? Or is it a big problem that needs to be repaired? And also if it needs repairing do you have an estimate?

IHTS: I could never recommend installing additional fans in a tv. You definitely have a part that needs replacing. My best guess would be the t-con pcb or the main pcb. Could easily be less than $200.
